I am a devout atheist and am an American Cinema student forever. (love international too-- AKIRA KURASAWA, FW Murnau. ALL the old film noire & Golden Age of Hollywood pieces, as well as the old guard avant-garde neo-realists, New wave and German Expressionists. I love film, technically and emotionally. Chaplin is my idol, I love them all and what they have to say; Kubrick, Pollack, (hard to believe they are gone now!) Scorsese, Altman, especially and FF Coppola, all the independents make the film world the dynamic entity it is.
